Accumulator: Service and Repair

DISASSEMBLE

Exploded View Of 2-3 Accumulator:

NOTE: Refer to the Exploded View Of 2-3 Accumulator image when disassembling the 2-3 accumulator.

1. Check for damaged or worn piston and stopper plug.
2. Ensure snap ring is not worn or broken.
3. Check return spring free length. Free lengths should be as follows:
a. On 1993-96 Probe models, 3.06 inch.
b. On models except 1993-96 Probe, 2.968 inch for non-turbo engines and 3.280 inch for turbo engines.

ASSEMBLE
1. Apply small amount of automatic transaxle fluid to large and small seals before installing to accumulator piston.
2. Insert 2-3 accumulator, then install spring to piston and stopper plug.
3. While holding stopper plug, install snap ring.
