Brake Light Switch: Service and Repair

Fig. 7 Stop Lamp Switch Replacement/adjustment:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect electrical connector from stop light switch, Fig. 7.
3. Loosen locknut securing stop light switch, then rotate switch counterclockwise to remove.
4. Install nuts securing stop light switch to bracket. Do not tighten nuts at this time.
5. Connect electrical connector to switch.
6. Adjust switch for proper operation by rotating the switch to obtain a brake pedal height of 8.54-8.74 inches as measured from the firewall.
