Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Testing Values Chart

Typical Voltage Values:

NOTE
^ The following voltage readings are typical for a normal vehicle with DIS cable attached. Do not use a "true RMS" type AC voltmeter such as the Fluke 8060a or 87.
^ The battery voltage was 14.6 volts DC when these readings were taken.
^ CID and PIP may be high or low with the Key On Engine Off (KOEO) depending on whether or not a tooth is in the air gap of the sensor.
^ If the SPOUT jumper is removed the PIP signal will be fed through the DIS module and appear on SPOUT at J36 of the DIS module.
^ The AC voltage reading from a "True RMS" type DVOM may be significantly different from a reading taken from a "standard" or averaging type DVOM, leading to incorrect answer of Pinpoint Test Steps.
