Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Testing Values Chart

Typical Voltage Values:

NOTES
^ These voltage readings are typical for a normal vehicle with DIS cable attached.
^ The battery voltage was 14.8 volts DC when these readings were taken.
^ The CID and PIP signals may be "high" (greater than 8 volts) or "low" when the key is on depending on whether or not a tooth is in the air cap of the sensor.
^ If the SPOUT jumper is removed, PIP will be fed through the DIS module and appear on the SPOUT test jack (J36) of the DIS module.
^ If a "true RMS" DVOM (Fluke 87) is used instead of the required "averaging" type DVOM (Fluke 88, 75, etc.) the value obtained will be significantly different in some cases than the values used in these pinpoint tests, resulting in incorrect answers to the pinpoint questions.
