Recall - Liftgate Latch Replacement: Overview

Safety Recall 91S38 - Delivery Hold and Recall of Certain 1992 Taurus/Sable Station Wagons for Liftgate Latch Replacement.


AFFECTED VEHICLES
Approximately 1400 1992 model year Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable station wagons built at the Atlanta Assembly Plant from March 5, 1991 through August 9, 1991.

REASONS FOR RECALL
The secondary latch mechanism on the liftgate may not operate properly. If the liftgate is not completely closed it may open unexpectedly, even while the car is in motion. Owners should be warned to be especially careful to check that the liftgate is completely closed before operating the car.
