Drive Axle Identification:

The plant code shown in Fig. 1 on the axle identification tag is used to identify the axle assembly. The plant code will not change as long as that particular axle assembly never undergoes an external design change. If an internal design change is made to an axle during the production of the axle and that internal change affects service parts interchangeability, a dash and numerical suffix will be added to the plant code, Fig. 2.
