Timing Chain: Service and Repair


REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Remove timing cover.
2. Rotate engine until No. 1 cylinder is at TDC compression stroke and timing marks are aligned.
3. Remove from camshaft sprocket bolt and washer, then the camshaft and crankshaft sprockets with timing chain.
4. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

5. Align timing marks when installing timing chain.
6. Before installing camshaft sprocket bolt, check for damage and blockage, as this bolt has a drilled oil passage.
7. After installing, apply engine oil to timing chain and sprockets.
