Checking Pinion

Using two switches and a battery, connect starter as shown in
Fig. 3. 2.
When switches K1 and K2 are closed the starter drive will be forced outward and the motor will run. If switch K2 is opened, the starter will stop turning with the pinion in the full out position.

Check pinion end gap in this position. End gap should be .004-.100 inch.
