Safing Sensor: Service and Repair

Removal

WARNING: THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY ENERGY MUST BE DEPLETED BEFORE ANY AIR BAG COMPONENT SERVICE IS PERFORMED. TO DEPLETE THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY ENERGY, DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE AND WAIT ONE MINUTE.





NOTE: The safing sensor is mounted on the bulkhead behind the floor console.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the LH and RH floor console side panels.





3. Disconnect the safing sensor electrical connectors.
4. Remove the two safing sensor bolts.
5. Remove the safing sensor.

Installation
1. Position the safing sensor with the arrow on the sensor facing toward the front of the vehicle and install the safing sensor bolts. Tighten the two safing sensor bolts to 7-9 Nm (61-86 lb-in).
2. Connect the safing sensor electrical connectors.
3. Install the LH and RH floor console side panels.
4. Connect the negative battery cable.
5. Verify that the air bag lamp is operative.
