Camshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP):







REMOVAL

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

2. Remove engine torque strut.

3. Remove power steering belt.

4. Remove power steering pump pulley.

5. Disconnect camshaft position sensor wiring connector.

6. Remove camshaft position sensor retaining bolts and remove sensor.

INSTALLATION

1. Install camshaft position sensor and retaining bolts.

2. Connect sensor wiring connector.

3. Install power steering pump pulley.

4. Install power steering belt.

5. Install engine torque strut.

6. Connect battery ground cable.

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn the adaptive strategy.
