Safing Sensor: Service and Repair






WARNING: The backup power supply energy must be depleted before any air bag component service is performed. To deplete the backup power supply energy, disconnect the battery ground cable and wait one minute.

Safing Sensor:





NOTE: The safing sensor is mounted on the bulkhead behind the instrument panel.

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the instrument panel from the vehicle.





3. Remove the three defroster duct screws.
4. Remove the defroster duct.
5. Disconnect the safing sensor electrical connectors.

Safing Sensor:





6. Remove the three safing sensor nuts.
7. Remove the safing sensor.
8. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Tighten the safing sensor bolts to 9-13 Nm (80-115 lb in).
9. Verify that the air bag warning indicator is operative.
