Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Compressor Cut-Off/Cycling Switchs

A/C Cyclic Switch

Located on top of the suction accumulator/drier, the A/C cyclic switch monitors refrigerant pressure and sends this information to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The PCM operates the A/C compressor when the refrigerant pressure reaches 317 kPa (46 psi) and stops A/C compressor operation when the refrigerant pressure drops to 158 +/-6.9 kPa (23 +/- 1 psi).

When functioning properly, the A/C cyclic switch will prevent evaporator icing and the blockage of air flow through the evaporator fins.
