Evaporator Core: Service and Repair

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Disconnect battery ground cable. Recover refrigerant from system.
2. Disconnect pressure switch electrical connector and remove from suction accumulator.
3. Disconnect refrigerant lines from accumulator and evaporator. Plug all open lines to prevent entry of dirt and moisture into system.

4. Remove nut retaining Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor bracket to upper lefthand corner of evaporator case and remove spring clip holding sensor to housing, and position sensor aside, Fig. 12.
5. Remove one nut retaining upper lefthand corner of evaporator case to dash panel, then remove six screws attaching lefthand evaporator cover to evaporator case.
6. Remove lefthand evaporator cover from case evaporator case.
7. Remove evaporator core and suction accumulator from evaporator case.
8. Reverse procedure to install. Use new O-rings lubricated with refrigerant oil.
9. Evacuate, charge and leak test system. Check for proper operation.
