DR8 - Check CMP or CKP Sensor Output



- Key "OFF".

- Breakout box installed, Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connected.

- Reconnect Camshaft Position (CMP) or Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor.

- Digital Volt/Ohm Meter (DVOM) on AC scale (to monitor less than 5.0 volts).

- Measure voltage between test pins 24 and 40 at the breakout box while varying engine rpm.

- Does AC voltage vary greater than 0.1 volt AC?

Yes -- Verify that the Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor is installed and aligned correctly. If OK, replace PCM. Remove breakout box. Reconnect all components. Rerun quick test. Quick Test Appendix (Detailed Testing Instructions)

No -- Replace CMP or CKP sensor. Remove breakout box. Reconnect all components. Rerun quick test. Quick Test Appendix (Detailed Testing Instructions)
