FIFTH GEAR SHAFT

DISASSEMBLE

NOTE: Label all parts for identification during assembly.

Fifth Gear Shaft Assembly:

1. Remove slip fit bearing, then the fifth gear and blocking ring from shaft.
2. Remove fifth gear synchronizer assembly.
3. Remove press fit bearing from pinion end of shaft using pinion bearing cone remover tool No. D79L-4621-A, or equivalent, and an arbor press.

ASSEMBLE

NOTE: Clean, inspect, and lightly coat all parts with transaxle fluid before assembling.

1. Press bearing on pinion end of fifth gear shaft using pinion bearing cone remover tool No. D79L-4621-A, or equivalent, and an arbor press.
2. Install fifth synchronizer assembly and plastic insert retainer facing pinion gear.
3. Install fifth gear, blocking ring and slip fit bearing on end of shaft.
