Evaporator Core: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove instrument panel from vehicle. Service and Repair
3. Recover A/C refrigerant system.
4. Disconnect and cap high and low pressure hoses.
5. Disconnect and cap refrigerant line from accumulator drier.
6. Drain engine coolant and remove hoses from heater core, then plug hoses and the core.
7. Disconnect blower motor wiring.
8. Working under the hood, remove three heater assembly to dash panel retaining nuts.
9. In passenger compartment, remove evaporator case assembly support bracket to cowl top panel attaching screw.
10. Remove one bracket to dash panel retaining screw below evaporator case assembly.

A/C - Heater System Components:





11. Carefully remove evaporator case assembly away from dash panel and remove heater assembly from vehicle.
12. Using a small saw, cut top of evaporator case between dotted line, then remove evaporator core.
13. Reverse procedure to install. An evaporator core cover kit is available for installation.
