Extension Housing: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Disconnect parking brake cable from equalizer, if necessary.
3. Disconnect driveshaft from rear axle flange, then remove driveshaft from transmission.
4. Disconnect speedometer cable from extension housing.
5. Remove engine rear support to extension housing retaining bolts, then the reinforcement plate if equipped.
6. Support transmission with suitable jack and raise transmission enough to remove weight from rear engine support.
7. Remove engine rear support from crossmember, then lower transmission and remove extension housing retaining bolts. Slide extension housing from output shaft and allow fluid to drain.

INSTALLATION
1. Reverse procedure to install.
