Shift Interlock Cable: Service and Repair

1. Open console glove compartment door and remove console finish panel attaching screws.
2. Lift rear of console finish panel off of retainers.
3. Reach under console finish panel and disconnect electrical connectors.
4. Lift rear of console finish panel and slide rearward to release two front locating tabs, then remove console finish panel from vehicle.
5. Remove left lower instrument panel trim and lower steering column shroud.
6. Remove interlock cable retaining screws and clip, then disconnect ignition/shifter interlock cable from lever cam.
7. Remove steering column retaining nuts and lower steering column to floor.
8. Disconnect interlock solenoid electrical connector.
9. Remove ignition/shifter interlock cable retaining screws from steering column.
10. Guide ignition/shifter interlock cable from under floor carpet and remove cable from vehicle.
11. Reverse procedure to install.
