Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair

REMOVE

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

2. Raise vehicle on hoist.

3. Disconnect electrical harness from manual lever position sensor.

4. Remove two retaining bolts.

5. Remove Manual Lever Position sensor (MLP).

INSTALL

1. Place shift control selector lever in the "NEUTRAL" position.

2. Install manual lever position sensor and loosely install two retaining bolts.

3. Align MLP slots using Manual Lever Position Sensor Alignment Tool T93P-70010-A.

4. Tighten retaining bolts to 9-12 Nm (7-9 ft lb) and remove tool.

5. Connect electrical harness to manual lever position sensor.

6. Lower the vehicle.

7. Connect battery ground cable.

8. Check for proper operation with parking brake engaged. The engine should start only in "PARK" or "NEUTRAL."
