Differential: Testing and Inspection

INSPECTION
1. Inspect differential gear teeth, thrust washer, and bearing surfaces and pinion shaft for damage and excessive wear.
2. Inspect final drive planet and carrier pinion gear teeth and bearings, then the thrust bearing and bushing surfaces.

Final Drive Planet And Carrier Pinion Gear Endplay Inspection:

3. Inspect final drive planet and carrier pinion gear endplay, endplay should be 0.006 to 0.025 inch.
