Input Shaft: Service and Repair

DISASSEMBLE

Exploded View Of Input Shaft:

1. Using bearing puller tool No. D84L-1123-A, or equivalent, and a suitable press, remove tapered roller bearing from input shaft.
2. Remove snap ring, then press fifth gear off input shaft and remove fourth gear, needle bearing, and synchronizer ring.
3. Remove snap ring, 3-4 synchronizer assembly, synchronizer ring, third gear, and needle bearing assembly from input shaft.
4. Using bearing puller tool No D84L-1123-A or equivalent, and a suitable press, remove remaining tapered roller bearing from input shaft.

ASSEMBLE
1. Reverse procedure to assemble, nothing the following:

3-4 Synchronizer Orientation:

a. Install 3-4 synchronizer assembly on shaft with small collar facing outward.
b. Use a suitable driver when pressing tapered roller bearings and fifth gear onto input shaft.
