Timing Chain: Service and Repair

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Remove the engine front cover, remove the crankshaft front oil slinger, if equipped.

2. Crank the engine until the timing marks are aligned as shown.
3. Remove camshaft sprocket retaining bolt, washer and fuel pump eccentric.
4. Slide sprockets and chain forward and remove them as an assembly. Reverse the order of the foregoing procedure to install the chain and sprockets, being sure the camshaft sprocket retaining bolt is tightened to 40-50 ft lb and the timing marks are properly aligned as shown in Fig. 27.
5. Reverse the procedure to install.
