Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

2. Remove the air cleaner to intake manifold tube.

3. Disconnect the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector.

4. Remove the four MAF sensor bolts.

5. Remove the MAF sensor from the engine air cleaner. If necessary, remove the MAF sensor gasket.

Mass Air Flow Sensor Replacement:

INSTALLATION

NOTE: Inspect the MAF sensor gasket for any signs of deterioration. Replace the gasket as necessary.

CAUTION: If scraping is necessary, be careful not to damage the engine air cleaner or the MAF sensor gasket surfaces.

1. Reverse the removal procedure.

2. Tighten the mass airflow sensor bolts to 8-12 Nm (72-108 in lb).

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn the adaptive strategy.
