Oxygen Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

NOTE: The Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) can be reached from under the hood.

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable (14301).

2. Disconnect the HO2S electrical connector.

3. Remove the HO2S from the three-way catalytic converter (5E212).

INSTALLATION

To install, reverse the removal procedure.

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn the adaptive strategy.
