Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
^ Remove the two exhaust manifold-to-three-way catalytic converter nuts.
^ Disconnect the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) electrical connector.
^ Remove the three-way catalytic converter bracket bolt.
^ Remove the three-way catalytic converter-to-muffler inlet pipe and resonator nuts and bolts.
^ Remove the exhaust converter outlet gasket and discard it.
^ Remove the Three-Way Catalytic Converter (TWC).

INSTALLATION
^ Inspect the TWC. If necessary, replace it.
^ Position the TWC and install a new exhaust converter outlet gasket between the TWC and the muffler inlet pipe and resonator.
^ Install the two three-way catalytic converter-to-muffler inlet pipe and resonator bolts and nuts. Tighten them to 40-55 Nm (30-41 ft lb).
^ Install the three-way catalytic converter bracket bolt and tighten to 20-28 Nm (14-21 ft lb).
^ Connect the HO2S electrical connector.
^ Install the two exhaust manifold-to-three-way catalytic converter nuts. Tighten the two exhaust manifold-to-three-way catalytic converter nuts to 34-47 Nm (25-35 ft lb).
