EVAP 12 - Check VMV Housing For Leaks

^ Key ON, engine OFF.

^ VMV solenoid disconnected.

^ Disconnect input port hose of VMV solenoid.

^ Apply 53 kPa (16 in Hg) of vacuum to VMV (vacuum input port to intake manifold) with a vacuum pump.

^ Observe the vacuum reading.

^ Key OFF.

^ Did all vacuum applied to VMV bleed off Immediately?

YES -- Evaporative emission system is functioning properly. Return to diagnostic routines symptom flow charts. SEE Powertrain Management / Testing and Inspection / Diagnostic Routines.

NO -- Replace VMV assembly. Remove vacuum pump. Rerun quick test.
