Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Service and Repair


Mass Airflow Sensor:






REMOVAL

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

2. Remove air cleaner outlet tube from throttle body and Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor.

3. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring from MAF sensor.

4. Remove engine air cleaner cover from engine air cleaner body.

5. Loosen MAF sensor to engine air cleaner seal clamp.

6. Remove MAF sensor retaining screws from engine air cleaner cover and remove MAF sensor.

INSTALLATION

1. To install, reverse removal procedure.

2. Tighten MAF screws to 8-11 Nm (71-102 in lb).

3. Tighten air cleaner outlet tube clamps to 1.4-2.0 Nm (12-18 in lb).

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn the adaptive strategy.
