Ignition Coil: Service and Repair








REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn its adaptive strategy.

2. Remove ignition coil cover (2) and disconnect engine control sensor wiring connector from ignition coil (4) and radio ignition interference capacitor (11).



3. Remove ignition wires by squeezing locking tabs to release ignition coil boot retainers.
4. Remove ignition coil retaining screws and remove ignition coil and radio ignition interference capacitor.

INSTALLATION
1. Install ignition coil, radio ignition interference capacitor and retaining screws. Tighten screws to 4.5-7.0 N.m (40-62 lb-in).
2. Connect ignition wires to proper ignition coil terminal. Connect engine control sensor wiring connector to ignition coil and radio ignition interference capacitor.
3. Install ignition coil cover.
4. Connect battery ground cable.
