Vehicle Speed Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVE

1. Raise vehicle on a hoist. Remove bolt retaining Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) mounting clip to transmission.

2. Remove VSS and driven gear from transmission.

3. Disconnect electrical connector from VSS.

4. Remove speedometer driven gear retainer. Remove driven gear from VSS.

INSTALL

1. Position driven gear to VSS. Install speedometer driven gear retainer.

2. Connect electrical connector.

3. Ensure internal O-ring is properly seated in VSS housing.
Insert VSS assembly into transmission housing. Install retaining bolt. Torque to 4.1-6.1 Nm (36-54 in lb).
