Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Testing Notes

Affected Circuit(s) / Electrical Component(s):

Pinpoint Test N - Yellow ABS Lamp On - No Response During Code Retrieval.

Description
If no ignition voltage is available to the anti-lock brake control module, or the voltage available is less than 8 volts, the anti-lock brake control module cannot initialize. As a result, the red Brake Warning Lamp and the yellow ABS WARNING LAMP remains on. No diagnostics are possible; and if code retrieval is attempted a "No Response" code will be output. The module will also not respond if connection to the NGS Scan Tool is poor or there is a circuit problem with the diagnostic line (Circuit 70 [LB/W]) or anti-lock brake control module ground Circuit 530 (LG/Y).

Possible Contributing Base Brake Component/Vehicle Wiring Concerns
- Worn or damaged ignition switch.
- Open ignition feed circuit to anti-lock brake control module.
- Low battery voltage (less than 8V).
- Blown ignition fuse 33 (15A).
- Open system ground.
- Circuit fault is in Circuit 70 (LB/W).
