TRANSAXLE - AX4S - "DO NOT SERVICE" TAG ON BOTTOM PAN

ISSUE:
Some AX4S transaxles have a yellow "Do Not Service" tag (Figure 1) located on the bottom pan. This yellow tag refers to this TSB and provides a toll free phone number to be used by all U.S. and Canadian dealers if service is required before September 30, 1995 (not applicable outside the U.S. and Canada).

The cork-style gasket for the side pan-to-chain cover and bottom pan-to-case has been replaced by an elastomeric design gasket. This requires a unique case, chain cover, side cover, bottom pan (4 mm deeper), two (2) elastromeric gaskets, filter and seal assembly and 6 mm pan bolts.

ACTION:
If replacement of a case, chain cover, side cover, side cover gasket, bottom pan, bottom pan gasket and/or filter and seal assembly is required, contact Ford Motor Company at 1-800-331-5112. After September 30, 1995, replace any above listed part with 1996 level parts.

NOTE:
ELASTOMERIC SIDE COVER AND BOTTOM PAN GASKETS ARE REUSABLE. CLEAN, INSPECT AND REUSE IF NOT DAMAGED.
