Front Wiper Motor

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Lift up wiper arm to pivot caps and remove nuts from both assemblies, then raise arms to service position and rock arms to release them from pivot shafts.
3. Remove four rivets and seven screws holding leaf screen, then remove screen.
4. Disconnect windshield washer hose at cowl, then remove cowl seal.
5. Remove cowl top vent panel, then disconnect cowl top drain by removing screws.
6. Disconnect wiper wiring harness at connector to allow removal of wiper and cowl panel assembly.
7. Remove attaching screws and lift cowl and wiper assembly from vehicle.
8. Remove screws holding wiper linkage to motor shaft and motor to cowl panel, then disconnect electrical connector at motor.
9. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque motor to cowl mounting screws to 10-12 ft lbs. and linkage to shaft screw to 11-15 ft. lbs.
b. Connect battery ground cable, then turn wipers On then Off to park system before installing wiper arms.
c. Position arms to pivot shafts, then torque shaft nuts to 22-29 ft. lbs.

NOTE: Vehicle specific information about operation, stored in PCM using battery backed up memory, may be lost when battery is disconnected. If this occurs poor engine performance, stalling and other driveability problems may occur. It may be necessary to drive the vehicle for up to 10 miles to allow the PCM to relearn this information.
