Heater Case

Removal and Installation


1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

2. Remove the air cleaner or the air inlet duct, as required.

3. In the engine compartment, remove the electrical connector from the blower motor by pushing on the connector tab and pulling the connector off the blower motor. Remove connector from the heater blower motor switch resistor.

4. In the passenger compartment, remove the instrument panel.

5. Remove heater air plenum chamber as described under Removal and Installation.

6. Remove the two nuts retaining the heater plenum chamber case to the dash panel. Pull the heater plenum chamber case away from the dash panel to remove.

For installation, follow removal steps in reverse order. Take care to align the five mounting studs to dash panel holes when positioning heater plenum chamber case. Check system for proper operation.















NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module (PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
