Glow Plug: Description and Operation
Glow Plugs:
PURPOSE The glow plugs are used to warm up the cylinders to improve cold engine starting.
OPERATION Battery power, controlled by the
glow plug relay and the
Powertrain Control Module (PCM), is applied to the glow plugs when necessary.
CONSTRUCTION The glow plugs are one piece, and are not repairable. They must be replaced when defective.
