Ignition Cable: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

Distributor:

2. Mark the distributor cap towers with the cylinder numbers to ensure installation in the correct positions.
3. Remove the distributor to spark plug wires from the distributor cap.
4. Note the differing lengths and numbering of the wires, and to which spark plugs the wires are connected.
5. Disengage the wires from the ignition wire separator.
6. Remove the distributor to spark plug wires from the spark plugs by grasping the spark plug wire boot and lifting while using a twisting motion.

INSTALLATION
1. Connect the distributor to spark plug wires to the corresponding spark plugs.
2. Secure the distributor to spark plug wires in the ignition wire separator.
3. Connect the distributor to spark plug wires to the corresponding distributor cap towers.
4. Connect the battery ground cable.
5. Check for proper operation.
