EGR Valve Position Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

NOTE: When battery voltage is removed from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), all learned values will be cleared and reset to predetermined values. When battery voltage is restored to the PCM, the vehicle may exhibit certain DRIVEABILITY concerns. It will be necessary to drive the vehicle to allow the PCM to relearn values for optimum driveability and performance.


1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
1. Disconnect Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve sensor wire connector at EGR valve sensor.
2. Remove three EGR valve sensor retaining nuts.
3. Remove EGR valve sensor from EGR valve. Inspect and replace sensor gasket (if necessary).

INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse removal procedure.
2. Tighten EGR valve sensor retaining nuts to 1.9-2.5 N.m (17-22 lb in).
