Recall 97V136000: Console Armrest Defect

Vehicle Description: Multi-purpose passenger vehicles. These vehicles were built with console armrests with an internal component whose material burn rate exceeds Ford's specifications. The vehicles, therefore, do not fully meet the requirements of FMVSS No. 320, "Flammability of Interior Materials." See note. Ford has not submitted a corrective action for this non-compliance.

NOTE: The manufacturer is petitioning NHTSA for a determination that this matter is inconsequential with respect to motor vehicle safety. The manufacturer is not obligated to conduct an owner notification and remedy campaign until NHTSA has resolved that the matter is consequential.
