Drive Belt: Service and Repair

CAUTION: Always use square drive tool in hole in tensioner to move tensioner, never pry on tensioner pulley. When releasing drive belt tensioner, never allow tensioner to snap back, damage to tensioner or personal injury could result. Do not allow engine coolant to remain on serpentine belt or pulleys. If necessary remove belt and flush with clean water.

REMOVAL
1. Insert a suitable square drive tool into square hole in tensioner arm, then rotate tensioner away from belt.
2. Lift belt from pulley, then slowly release tensioner.
3. Remove belt from vehicle.

INSTALLATION

Serpentine Belt Routing:





1. Route belt as shown. Ensure belt is properly seated in pulley grooves.
2. Insert a suitable square drive tool into square hole in tensioner arm, then rotate tensioner away from belt.
3. Position belt under tensioner, then slowly release tensioner onto belt.
