Air Cleaner Housing: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

Air Cleaner:





2. Disconnect the engine air cleaner intake tube from the air cleaner housing.
3. Loosen the screw type clamp securing the air cleaner to intake manifold tube to the Volume Air Flow (VAF) sensor and pull the air cleaner to intake manifold tube from the VAF sensor.
4. Disconnect the VAF sensor electrical connector from the LH side of the air cleaner housing cover.

EGR Boost Sensor:





5. Remove the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) boost sensor switch bracket bolt and the EGR boost sensor bracket bolt from the RH side of the air cleaner housing cover and position them out of the way.
6. Remove the engine air cleaner nuts and bolt.
7. Remove the engine air cleaner from the vehicle.
8. If necessary, remove the two VAF sensor bolts from the air cleaner housing cover and remove the VAF sensor.
9. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Tighten the engine air cleaner nuts and bolt to 19-25 Nm (14-18 lb ft). Tighten the VAF sensor bolts to 8-10 Nm (71-88 lb in).
