1996 SABLE

ISSUE:
A "thump," "clunk" or "chuckle" noise from the front end while going over bumps may be evident on some vehicles. This may be a characteristic of the current level front struts being used.

ACTION:
Replace these units with a revised design strut. The revised struts should reduce the possibility of noise while traveling over bumps. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Perform Pinpoint Test "E" in the 1996 Taurus/Sable Service Manual, Page 04-00-09.

2. If the results of the pinpoint test do not isolate the noise concern, replace the two (2) front struts with new struts (F6DZ-18124-AC). Refer to the 1996 Taurus/Sable Service Manual, Pages 04-01-8 through 04-01-10.
