Seat Latch: Testing and Inspection

Any time a front seat assembly equipped with front seat back latch is serviced, the front seat back latch must be tested for proper operation as follows:
1. With seat and track assembly removed from vehicle and positioned on a flat surface, grasp only the seat cushion, and slowly tilt the seat assembly forward enough to cause the seat back to tilt forward by gravity.
2. The front seat back latch should engage at this point (11 degrees from original position), restricting the seat back from tilting to its full forward position.
3. If front seat back latch does not operate as outlined, replace front seat back latch assembly.
