Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Inspection

If the rear disc brake caliper is disassembled, inspect all parts for wear or damage. Inspect the caliper bore and piston for rust or pitting. Do not hone a caliper bore. The rear disc brake caliper or caliper piston must be replaced if the bore is badly worn, scored or damaged. If not disassembled, wipe off the rear disc brake caliper and inspect for cracks, damage or leaks. Do not use compressed air to blow away dirt and debris. Compressed air could dislodge and force dirt past the caliper dust boot. Rebuild or replace as necessary.
