Idle Up Control Valve: Service and Repair

Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve:






Removal
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

2. Disconnect the idle air control valve (IAC valve) connector from the engine control sensor wiring.

3. Remove the two idle air control valve retaining bolts.

4. Remove the idle air control valve (IAC valve) and idle air control valve gasket.

Installation

NOTE:
If scraping is necessary, do not damage idle air control valve or idle air control valve gasket surfaces, or drop material into engine.

1. Clean idle air control valve gasket mating surfaces.

2. To install idle air control valve, reverse removal procedure.

3. lighten retaining bolts to 8-11.5 Nm (71-102 lb.in.).

4. Connect battery ground cable.

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected or reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module (PCM) relearns its fuel trim. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the fuel trim. Testing and Inspection
