Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Steps Before Assembly

Make sure necessary replacement parts will be available for reassembly. Make sure the complete assortment of selective fit parts are available for adjustments during assembly:
^ Drive sprocket thrust washers.
^ Driven sprocket thrust bearing shims.
^ Differential case thrust bearing shims.
^ Low/reverse clutch pressure plates.
^ Reverse clutch beveled retaining rings.

During reassembly, use petroleum jelly to hold parts in place (do not use grease). When tightening fasteners, use an accurate torque wrench.
Lightly coat bolt and nut threads with automatic transmission fluid for installation torque specifications.
