Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Flex Plate: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Remove transaxle.
2. Remove flywheel retaining bolts and flywheel.
3. The engine rear plate and converter pilot sleeve can be removed, if necessary.

INSTALLATION
1. Coat threads of flywheel retaining bolts with Pipe Sealant with Teflon.

NOTE: If flywheel is to be replaced, check if original flywheel has balance pins or rivets installed. If so, new balance rivets must be installed on new flywheel in same position as on original flywheel.

3. Position flywheel on crankshaft and install retaining bolts. Tighten bolts to 73-87 Nm (54-64 ft. lbs.) using standard cross-tightening sequence.
4. Install transaxle.
