Washer System
WARNING: WINDSHIELD WASHER SOLUTION CONTAINS METHANOL, WHICH IS POISONOUS. OBSERVE ALL CAUTIONS AND WARNINGS INDICATED ON LABEL OF WASHER SOLUTION CONTAINER.The windshield washer system operates in the following manner.
- Two windshield washer nozzle jet and brackets are located on the cowl top vent panel.
- Control is part of the multi-function switch and is steering column-mounted.
- Pushing the button in the end of the multi-function switch energizes a windshield washer pump mounted inside a cavity in the windshield washer reservoir.
Windshield
- The front windshield washer nozzle jet and brackets sprays windshield washer fluid in a tan-like pattern onto the windshield.
- The jet is actually a single oscillating stream.
- Only actuate system momentarily to avoid sending a large amount of fluid through system.
Rear Window

NOTE:
- Fill the washer reservoir slowly or air will become trapped and the washer reservoir will overflow.
- The rear washer is not controlled by the generic electronic module (GEM).
The rear window washer system consists of:
- a single washer nozzle jet.
- a wiper/washer switch on the instrument panel.
- an external washer pump on the washer reservoir activated by the wiper/washer switch. The washer reservoir is located in the engine compartment.
Rear Window Wiper/Washer Switch
NOTE: The rear wiper is not controlled by the generic electronic module (GEM).
The rear wiper system and switch has the following features:
- single motor assembly mounted on the liftgate
- instrument panel mounted control switch powered through an in-line circuit breaker
- rear window wiper operated by an electric motor mounted on the liftgate.
