Front Wiper Motor

When installing the drive arm to a new windshield wiper motor, follow the instructions included in new windshield wiper motor kit.

CAUTION: The internal permanent magnets used in the windshield wiper motor are a ceramic (glass-like) material. Care must be exercised in handling the windshield wiper motor to avoid damaging the magnets. The windshield wiper motor must not be struck or tapped with a hammer or other object.

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove cap on LH and RH windshield wiper pivot arms to expose nuts that retain the arms to pivot shaft.
3. Remove two nuts, one from each of the windshield wiper pivot arms. Lift windshield wiper pivot arms to service position, carefully rocking them back and forth to loosen them from pivot shaft. Lift off arms.
4. Remove four rivets and seven screws retaining cowl top vent panel.
5. Disconnect window washer hose at LH side of the vehicle just ahead of where it enters cowl top.
6. Remove hood cowl seal.
7. Carefully remove cowl top vent panel from vehicle.
8. Remove three retaining screws to cowl drain tube that is connected to the top cowl.
9. Disconnect wiring harness leading to windshield wiper motor.
10. Remove five screws retaining cowl top to vehicle and remove cowl top and windshield wiper assembly from vehicle.
11. Remove linkage drive arm from motor shaft.
12. Remove three screws retaining the windshield wiper motor to windshield wiper and separate the two parts.
13. Disconnect wiring connector from windshield wiper motor and remove windshield wiper motor from vehicle.

INSTALLATION
1. Position new windshield wiper motor to windshield wiper and install three retaining screws. Tighten to 13-17 Nm (115-150 lb-in).
2. Install wiring connector to windshield wiper motor.
3. Position linkage drive arm to motor shaft and press into bail socket.
4. To install leaf screen and windshield wiper cowl top assembly, reverse Removal procedure.
5. Install wiper arms.
