Preliminary checks must be performed before continuing this Pinpoint Test. Check:
- Electrical Connections
- Vacuum Leaks
- Fuel Level and Quality
- Ignition Wiring Connections
- Air Intake Filters, Tubes, and Gaskets
- Aftermarket Alterations
- Basic Engine Condition (Valves, Timing, Etc.)

This Pinpoint Test contains instructions for isolating an intermittent fault. It combines the use of a scan tool with a breakout box, a fuel pressure gauge, vacuum gauge, and Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM). Actual values can be compared to typical values listed in the Diagnostic Reference Values to aid in finding the fault.
