Compressor Oil

DURING A/C COMPRESSOR REPLACEMENT

CAUTION:
If the A/C compressor is being replaced due to failure, the suction accumulator/drier must be replaced at the same time.

1. Place the disc and hub assembly on the compressor shaft so the shaft can be rotated.
2. Drain the refrigerant oil.
a. Use a suitable oil measuring container.
b. Rotate the shaft by hand six to eight times.
c. Measure the amount of refrigerant oil drained from the old A/C compressor.
4. Add the new refrigerant oil to the new A/C compressor.
^ If the amount of oil drained is between 85-142 ml (3-5 oz), pour the same amount of new Motorcraft refrigerant oil YN-12b or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B into the new A/C compressor.
^ If the amount of oil drained is greater than 142 ml (5 oz), pour 142 ml (5 oz) of the Motorcraft refrigerant oil YN-12b or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B into the new A/C compressor.
^ If the amount of oil drained is less than 85 ml (3 oz), pour 85 ml (3 oz) of new Motorcraft refrigerant oil YN-12b or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B into the new A/C compressor.
