Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor: Service and Repair

NOTE: The Accelerator Pedal Position (AP) sensor and the Idle Validation Switch (IVS) are not serviced separately. Replace the accelerator pedal and shaft if the AP position sensor or the IVS require service.

REMOVAL

CAUTION: The accelerator pedal and sensor assembly is a non-adjustable, calibrated unit and must be handled with care.

1. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the IVS and the AP sensor.





2. Remove the bolts retaining the accelerator pedal and sensor assembly.
3. Remove the accelerator pedal and sensor assembly.





INSTALLATION
Follow the removal procedure in reverse order. Tighten retaining bolts to 22-28 Nm (16-21 lb ft).
